Reorganized

Wednesday I flatted Mr P. He felt okay, but not totally back to normal yet, so we just did a nice hack where I didn’t really touch the reins and we went through our paces with a few transitions thrown in where I used just my voice. I love that he will just listen. 🙂 He loosened up towards the end and started to feel like his usual self. That cold weather really stiffened him up though. Hoping the cold coming next week doesn’t put a damper on our progress.

After I rode P I got to try my new cooler on Stampede. Now I didn’t share the first cooler I tried, a Centaur Wool Cooler, because it fit Stampede horribly. I have no idea what horse that cooler was made for, but it was really strangely built! What’s even weirder, is that my friend Christie already has one, and it fits her horse fine. Something about enlarging the size and not adjusting where the straps fall may be the issue though. Anyways, on to my new cooler! It’s a Rambo Grand Prix Show Blanket. All the fancy add ons of a wool dress sheet, with the easy care of a non-wool cooler. Awesome!

Maybe he will stop threatening to eat me when I put a cooler on now?

Thursday I flatted Stampede. I will say I was really distracted because my husband had called to say that Juneau (the puppy) wasn’t acting right and we decided he should take her to the emergency vet. Anyway, in the end she was fine and had just upset her system by pigging out on her kibble to fast. I had already ordered a bowl for that issue which thankfully came before lunch time the next day.

Anyways, I was feeling distracted and worrying about the youngest furbaby, so I just kind of went through the paces. The funny thing is that Stampede was great. Especially at the trot he got going on autopilot in a great hunter strut. I guess he likes it when I leave him alone, lol. Maybe it’s time I attempt the hunter ring again and stop hiding in the eq ring?

Thursday night I also gave Stampede his second shot of Ichon for his joints, and P got his first shot of it. So far so good with that, I guess I can blame Stampede’s improvements on it for now!

That’s what horses do best 😉

Friday was a Mr P night again of course. Finally he felt like himself again! Worked on some light bending exercises, some extra transitions, and upped our canter work back to normal levels. I also texted my friend Jessica to give her the okay to ride P in the lesson today.

Today I did a lesson on Stampede. I decided to jump again since it looks like it may be too cold to ride Tuesday. Other than one failure to go forward down a line because he wanted to be angry at a mare in the arena he was very good. We did one hunter course then a short equitation course with a nice rollback in it.

I also dropped off my new cooler to be monogrammed today. I can’t wait to get it back next week!

Tomorrow I will lunge Stampede as usual, then P will be giving some pony rides for the kids of someone I work with. I know P won’t complain, he loves the attention (and the treats).

GORGEOUS! That cooler is my next purchase, only in the black/orange/tan combo. I’m glad you gave it a good review. 🙂
