Cute and Furry

I suppose this has become a general catchup post with a lot of pictures. I still share photos on Instagram (linked on the right) all the time regardless of having time to blog if you want to follow along.

My foot is finally starting to improve, although I still can’t walk completely normal I can ride just fine as long as I make sure the outside of my foot doesn’t touch the stirrup.

Things with Mr. P have been great. The special shoes combined with bringing back his toe further has really helped him. With the cooler weather he has been exceptionally spunky during rides which I love.

Stampede in the past week has finally started to feel like he’s progressing. I’ve been doing trot only for the last few weeks. At first I focused on getting him off my hands and using himself properly. Once he started to maintain himself during our rides I started upping the amount of time we trotted.

My last 6 rides on him have really been great. I’ve been able to stop obsessing over lifting and pushing every single step and now can mostly set him up as I want and just provide little reminders as needed. It’s quite lovely. I hope it continues.

Yesterday I added a trot pole into our ride which went well. My plan is to get him solidly trotting a set of poles and trotting for 25 minutes per ride before I move on to canter. Honestly I’m nervous about cantering because I know that is what is most likely to make him sore so I will take my time. We have plenty of time.

I’m also still playing with Willow. I shared her (and P) quite a bit when I first hurt my foot so there was almost a whole week where I didn’t ride her but now I’m back at it.

Willow is such a beefcake these days and so much fun to flat around. Yesterday I was playing with her over the same pole I had set up for Stampede as well as doing some canter to walk and walk to canter transitions. She’s really responsive which makes it a lot of fun.

Yesterday I also finally found the time and energy to clean both of my saddles and Stampede’s bridle. Then I cleaned up both of P’s bridles today. Love it when everything is clean at once!

Here’s hoping these great rides continue!

So sad that it gets dark so fast, it could at least wait until 8 pm…
