Favorite Products Blog Hop

L at Viva Carlos did this blog hop recently and I like it so I’m hopping on the train!

What is your favorite equestrian-specific product that you use when you’re at the barn?

I’m in love with my hand painted brush box and its corresponding brushes that I got earlier this year. You can never go wrong when you combine function and beauty! This is actually the brush box out of my Smartpak tack box which I sent away to Relatively Stable for a face lift!

What is your favorite non equestrian-specific product to use when you’re at the barn?

I’m going to mention a few things here actually.

  1. Plain aloe – Great for putting on dry skin and areas where new hair growth is needed. Dries fast so you don’t end up with junk stuck to it.
  2. Baby wipes – I use them to spot clean the ponies, although usually Stampede. I will wipe around his eyes, under his tail, and use it to clean off dirty goo I’ve put on his leg crusts the night before.
  3. Country vet automatic flying insect control kit – This is marketed for use on all kinds of big animals but I have these mounted in the boy’s stalls in the summer since the barn doesn’t have a system. Works well for keeping the boys comfortable.

What is your horse’s favorite equestrian-specific product to wear or use?

Well I would hope the boys’ favorite things to wear would be their CWD saddles since they were an expensive investment!

Otherwise, I love Rambo horse clothing. The boys have Rambo cotton sheets, turnout sheets, turnout blankets, and Stampede has a Rambo cooler. Their products just last. I recently sold a turnout sheet that Stampede “outgrew” to a friend and it was over 7 years old and still in good working condition. Really awesome.

No on will have to guess who's sheet this is :)

What was the best equestrian-related gift you were ever given, and why does it mean so much to you?

Well I was given my first horse, Zipper, as a Christmas gift back in 1994 so that one is hard to beat! Pretty obvious why it meant so much. Zipper was a great first horse regardless of the fact that he was 3 when I met him. That Quarter Horse brain came in handy!

Otherwise, I would say the drawing my husband had done of Stampede several years ago means a lot to me. The fact that my husband understands how much the horses mean to me just makes me love him more. I still need a Phoenix one but we didn’t have P back when this was done!

This picture was more to show the ribbon, but here’s Stampy’s portrait

If you had the ability to create any product or anything to make your time at the barn better, – no matter how ridiculous or against-the-laws-of-physics it might be – what would that be?

I would really like a synthetic anatomic girth to exist. I think the closest thing out there is the Mattes girths currently. I would settle for a leather anatomic girth that has a velcro on liner, which currently exists but not in Stampede size!

On a more ridiculous front some kind of robotic horse grazer that could take the boys to the best grass-eating locations on the barn property that aren’t fenced in.
